Daring Campers started this Freaky Day with Crazy Hats! It was quite the display of hats but after a very close vote a Daring Camper reigned victorious!
They spent a good deal of the morning in the Tree House listending to the stories and legends that are associated with constellations. They loved hearing the stories of Leo the Lion and Cepheus the King! They continued the morning with Project Adventure as they had a chance to work on two of our low elements- the Traverse and the Spider Web. Project Adventure is a great oppotunity for team building and communication skills- coupled with good listening!
In the afternoon, they enjoyed an exciting game of kickball out on the softball fields! Back at the lodge, campers were given an array of dots in which they could connect in any way and create their own story associated with their constellation. They got pretty creative with trains, houses, cats, boys, girls, the list could go on and on. Only after they finished were they told that the dots were actual constellations- Leo the Lion and the Cepheus the King.
The day ended with some sweet treats- popcicles and space ice cream and a trip to the creek!
We were so happy that you shared your children with us this week! We hope that more weeks of Summer at Laurel are in store for you (remember there is still time to sign up for more!) but if there are not we hope that you have a safe and happy summer!
